After exploring the Eastern highlands, we interviewed Sandie and she shared with us, her top 10 places. Kindly note that this list is subjective.
10. THE OSBORNE DAM
Regarded as the largest lake within the Eastern Highlands (Manicaland) region. Moreover, it is one of the major inland lakes in Zimbabwe. Some of the popular activities are boating, fishing, camping, birding and walking safaris.

9. THE CITY OF MUTARE
This is the the Capital of the Manicaland Province (The Eastern Highlands). Many regard Mutare as the cleanest and most organised city in Zimbabwe. What makes this place one of the best is the “Mutareans” i.e the Wasu/Samanyika people, who are very welcoming. For visitors, it is a home away from home.

8. THE HONDE VALLEY
A must‑see destination for travelers. It is also known as the Ever‑green Valley. This is undoubtedly one of the most stunning, peaceful and lively places to explore in the Eastern Highlands. Moreover, Honde Valley`s mountainous and steep terrains, will mesmerize visitors.

7. EXPLORING THE PUNGWE RIVER
This majestic river is well known for its “roughness” and has falls and gorges. It rises below Mount Nyangani in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe and then flows eastward through Mozambique. It then empties into the Mozambique Channel at Beira. Kayaking is an activity popular along the channel.

6. THE VUMBA / BVUMBA
It is a place straight from Disneyland. Never forget your camera when you visit. The views are simply out of this world.

5. CHIMANIMANI
This a very mountainous area which has breathtaking beauty and a prestine environment. The region is clustered with amazing attractions which include the Bridal Veil Falls and Chimanimani National Park. Moreover, such attractions attract adventurous travelers.

4. THE CHIRINDA FOREST
Home to Zimbabwe’s tallest indigenous tree named The Big Tree, a 65m tall Redwood tree (Khaya anthotheca) which is estimated aged above 1 000 years and has a trunk diameter of 4,5m.

3. MOUNT NYANGANI
About 2593m in height. Its peak is a 1‑3 hour climb, trekking from any of the 4 base‑entry points for anyone of average fitness. However, there are stories and myths about this sacred mountain, (check out the next edition, as we reveal some of these myths).

2. THE WORLD`S VIEW
This viewpoint is located in Nyanga. On a clear day, places as far away as 60 to 70 km might be seen.

- THE MAJESTIC MUTARAZI FALLS
These are the second highest water falls in Africa (First in Zimbabwe). There is magnificent scenery and the best place to
visit for adventure seeking tourists. The most popular activities are zip‑lining and sky walking.
